When I first saw you in this magnificent garden of Tuileries, I wondered what that meant in terms of the Olympic flame.

Then I saw you rise, evening after evening, in the sky of PARIS sumptuously framed by a beautiful scenery in the very heart of PARIS.

Evening after evening, night after night, your light has spread over all PARIS from a height that it exceeded the roofs of PARIS and spread throughout its presence.

This light, coming directly from OLYMPIA, having passed through the ages and persisting in its constancy and beauty illuminated PARIS with all its strength and serenity.

Light that other lights had already preceded in the knowledge of the great philosophers and authors of ancient Greece that history has always succeeded to transmit to us until today.

Flooding the whole garden of tuileries, all the Louvre and all PARIS, this light came in the summer season in the cool summer nights of an exceptional sweetness, fill every evening with a presence of such historical force that this presence will forever remain engraved in our hearts and memories.

Then the time came when your journey had to cross the seas far beyond the ancient columns of Hercules to prepare for a new epic in 2028.
